After School Program K-6th Grade

Ken-Rock’s Excelsior After School Program, sponsored by the United Way of Rock River Valley is an energetic, entertaining, educational and safe place for kids in kindergarten through 6th grade.

Center staff helps students with their homework, including comprehensive reading  lessons. Excelsior After School Program will provide a nutritious meal and then help children build character through arts and crafts and physical fitness programs. Most of all, kids have fun.

If your child attends Riverdahl, Froberg, Swan Hillman, RESA or Legacy Academy, bus transportation to Ken-Rock is provided through the Rockford Public Schools transportation department.

As parents, you want what’s best for your children. When your child participates in an educational reading program (promising to raise your child’s reading and comprehension levels), you’re giving them the chance to succeed in many different ways. Through early exposure to books, kids develop vocabulary skills and learn to recognize letters and words – giving their written communication skills a big boost.

Give us a call at (815) 398-8864 to learn how to enroll your child today. Registration opens August 1, 2017 for the 2017-18 school year. The cost is $30.00 per week and Y-Care benefits are accepted. For more information or to sign up, Contact Savannah Palmer at

Our daily reading program is sponsored by the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois Community Grants Program.
