Center staff helps students with their homework, including comprehensive reading lessons. The After School Program will provide a nutritious meal and then help children build character through arts and crafts and physical fitness programs. Most of all, kids have fun.
If your child attends Riverdahl, Froberg, Swan Hillman, RESA or Legacy Academy, bus transportation to Ken-Rock is provided through the Rockford Public Schools transportation department. To make arrangements for transportation call 815-966-3706.

Through early exposure to books, kids develop vocabulary skills and learn to recognize letters and words – giving their written communication skills a big boost.

The goal of the Ken-Rock After School Program is to strengthen and reinforce the education that the students are receiving from the Rockford School District.

Is there any fee assistance we can apply for? Although our After School Program doesn’t offer in-house assistance, we do except Y-Care assistance.
Is transportation provided? If your child attends Rockford’s Riverdahl, Froberg, Swan Hillman, R.E.S.A or Legacy Academy schools then bus transportation is provided by Rockford Public Schools.
What is the focus of the program? Will my child get his/her homework done? Our goal is for every child to excel and exceed their individual educational goals by focusing on completing homework assignments.
I understand one of the initiatives is reading? Tell me about the reading program? We have Reading Lab 30 minutes a day with a certified reading professional.Sponsored by the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois.
What time is pick up daily? If I am late picking up my child, what happens? Pick up time is 6 p.m. After that, a late fee will be applied.$1.00 a minute that you are late picking up your child. If you are 30 minutes late and have not contacted Ken-Rock, Rockford Police will be called. This policy is in place to protect every child’s best interest.
Do you have any recreational time? Indoor and outdoor recreational time is incorporated as much as possible.
Do the kids participate in any holiday activities? We acknowledge all traditional holidays.
What if Rockford Public Schools cancels due to snow or freezing temperatures? The Student Learning Center is closed as well.
