Return to Glory, Ken-Rock Chess Club is Back

The Historic Ken-Rock Chess Club has returned. Back in the 1970’s and 1980’s, Ken-Rock Community Center was the
center of the Rockford Chess community. Every week for years, chess players came to duke it out in the
greatest of all brain Games. In the 2000’s, numerous Chess events have been held at Ken-Rock. Two Northern Illinois
Junior Opens were held at the Community Center.
The Ken-Rock Chess club developed numerous local champions. There was even a native Rockford US Junior Open
Champion who would visit occasionally.
Wednesday, March 3rd , from 6:00-8:30, begins the chess version of Back to the Future. To start, a short four-week class will be available to people, Ages 7 to 79, who are new to chess.
