Ken-Rock Community Center is adding Saturday indoor soccer leagues for kids ages four to 10 years old to its already busy menu of youth sports. The leagues will run from Aug. 19 through Oct. 7 at the 3218 11th Street community center.
“I went to watch my granddaughter play last week and got hooked,” Ken-Rock Executive Director John Guth said. “We are in the kid business and my job is to provide any and all services within my power and resources. We have space, gym, kids and an administrator. All the pieces are in place for us to run something in south Rockford.”
According to Statista.com, soccer continues to grow in popularity in the United States. In the fall of 2009, 11.1 million in the U.S. had played soccer at least once in the prior 12 months. In the spring of 2016, that number had grown to 15.8 million.

There is a $90 registration fee for those who sign up by July 28. The cost increases to $100 if you sign up after July 28. Your registration fee pays for a soccer shirt, shorts, socks and an end-of-season award.
